The Sewer Saints

About the project

My role: Creative Producer, Director
Format: Mockumentary, 90 minutes
Stage: development

“The Sewer Saints” is a mockumentary, which, in an original way, tackles the problems of homelessness and poverty, but most of all describes a selfless desire to give happiness to others. The homeless Santa Clauses in the film are very colourful characters. They are sometimes neurotic, dressed in shabby clothes, but they all want to do good. The story is told from multiple perspectives – the Santas, the police, the homeless, and ordinary families. Through flashbacks, we learn the touching stories of the characters and their poor part of the city. The viewer is not sure until the film ends whether the characters are real Santa Clauses or crazy homeless guys.

The original short film was created in Sydney, Australia at the Academy of Film, Theatre and Television. It was awarded Golden Kahuna at the Honolulu Film Awards (best student film), and screened in Aurora television.
